Erika Castellanos is a trans woman living with HIV from Belize who lives in the Netherlands. A social worker by profession, Erika joined GATE as Director of Programs in April 2017 and has held the role of Interim Executive Director since February 2022. Erika plays an important role in the participation of trans people in global key decision-making platforms. This includes being part of the Communities Delegation on the Board of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; indeed, from 1 June 2018, Erika is the first openly trans advocate to be appointed to the Board of the Global Fund.
