People-first and stigma-free services
A suite of IAS programmes works towards attaining people-first, stigma-free HIV services, built with and for the people who use them. These programmes elevate lived experiences, reinforce community leadership and promote services that are respectful and inclusive.
At the heart of this effort, Differentiated Service Delivery and Person-Centred Care foster collaboration and prioritize the needs of individuals and communities. With the IAS Educational Fund, these programmes equip policy-makers, service providers, implementers and communities with the evidence needed to improve how services are designed and delivered.
Strengthening the healthcare workforce is just as important. The Mark Wainberg Fellowship Programme trains HIV physicians in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia Pacific to deliver care that is tailored, of high quality and free of stigma. The Me and My Healthcare Provider Campaign raises the voices of healthcare workers serving key populations and fosters peer learning and replication of inclusive HIV care.
Underpinning this is the recognition that young people are not passive recipients of services. The Youth Hub empowers young people to demand services that reflect their needs, rather than settle for services designed around assumptions about what those needs might be.
