About the AIDS 2026 Young Leaders Programme

The Young Leaders Programme is offered at the International AIDS Conference and IAS Conference on HIV Science for young people living with HIV, young activists and young researchers to strengthen networking, research and advocacy skills.

AIDS 2026 Young Leaders Programme

Young Leaders will benefit from a dedicated and tailored curriculum at AIDS 2026 and beyond. It will include:

  • Meetings with leading scientists, researchers and advocates, including AIDS 2026 featured speakers and IAS leaders
  • Innovation workshop to develop new ideas with other young people
  • One-on-one career forum to discuss individual career pathways in the field of HIV
  • Networking with other young people living with HIV, young activists and young researchers

What is the Young Leaders Programme?

The Young Leaders Programme is offered at the International AIDS Conference and IAS Conference on HIV Science for young people living with HIV, young activists and young researchers to strengthen networking, research and advocacy skills.

What are the selection criteria?

The AIDS 2026 Young Leaders Programme is open to all in-person registered delegates aged 29 or under at the time of application.

Young Leaders must have a good working knowledge of English.

Applicants will be selected based on the strength of their application while ensuring diversity of representation. 

How many Young Leaders will be selected?

As for AIDS 2024, we aim to select 25-30 Young Leaders for AIDS 2026. 

How do I apply for the AIDS 2026 Young Leaders Programme?

Will I receive any funding to be a Young Leader?

The AIDS 2026 Young Leaders Programme is open to in-person registered delegates only. Young Leaders are therefore expected to already be funding their own attendance of AIDS 2026 or be a scholarship recipient. 

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
