Media registration
Submissions open: 20 November 2025
Submissions deadline: You can register as media up until the first day of the conference. However, we encourage you to register as early as possible to avoid delays. Media who arrive at the conference without registering beforehand will not be permitted to enter.
Media must apply for AIDS 2026 media registration to report from the conference. Media registration is free for accredited journalists, as well as public-facing communications professionals and social influencers who meet certain criteria (see below). However, it is the individual’s responsibility to cover all other costs related to attending AIDS 2026 in person, including travel and accommodation costs.
Media representatives can choose between two registration formats:
In-person registration, including:
- In-person access to all conference sessions, the AIDS 2026 Global Village, satellite sessions, pre-conferences, the poster exhibition and the exhibition
- Online access to all conference, satellite sessions and press conferences streamed live and available on demand throughout the conference and after
Virtual registration, including:
- Online access to all conference, satellite sessions and press conferences streamed live and available on demand throughout the conference and after
Please note: If in-person registration is selected, it is expected that the media delegate will attend the conference in person. If you select this option but can no longer attend in person, please email media@iasociety.org to change your registration to virtual.
Three categories of media registration are available:
Category 1: Journalists, photographers and videographers
Journalists, photographers and videographers who are either employees of or on assignment for a recognized print, radio, broadcast or online consumer, medical, community-based or HIV service organization-sponsored media outlet.
Required documentation:

- A copy of your current press badge/media accreditation or two recent HIV- or global health-related articles with your byline (URLs or scanned copies of print pieces are accepted). Note: If original articles are not in English, please provide an English translation for review. Your byline must be clearly visible for our review.
Category 2: Public-facing communications professionals
Public-facing communications professionals attached to a recognized non-profit HIV research, advocacy or policy organization and whose work is directly related to supporting media coverage of presentations at AIDS 2026.
Required documentation:

This letter must clarify that you will be attending AIDS 2026 to report on the conference in your public-facing communications or media role for your organization.

Category 3: Social media influencers
Social media influencers who make significant contributions to the HIV response. These influencers or content creators must be working in the HIV response and/or broader public health or have strong connections with key populations and have a social following of over 50,000 on X, Bluesky, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and/or YouTube.
Required documentation:
- A letter that briefly states what you plan to cover at AIDS 2026 and includes the URL links to your social media accounts, which must have over 50,000 followers in total.
- Two samples of recent posts you have produced related to the field of HIV, broader public health or key populations. Note: If original samples are not in English, please provide an English translation for review.
The IAS will process your media registration only when we have received your fully completed registration form and verified the requested supporting documents. We will review applications on a case-by-case basis. We may request additional credentials before approving your accreditation. Please allow a minimum of 14 working days for processing to receive confirmation of your registration.
