Key information
- Asia and the Pacific Islands is the region that will host AIDS 2028.
- A detailed bid proposal and budget are required only from shortlisted cities. Detailed bid proposals will not be considered at this stage.
- The submission deadline for letters of intent is 30 October 2025.
Timeline of the bidding process
STEP 1: Letters of intent (LoIs) to host the conference
- 30 October 2025
Deadline for submission of letter of intent - November 2025
Shortlisting process. The IAS Conference Committee will propose a shortlist of 2-3 destinations to be approved by the IAS Executive Board.
STEP 2: Detailed proposals by shortlisted candidate cities
- February 2026
The IAS sends a detailed request for proposal (RFP) to each shortlisted candidate. - 30 May 2026

Site visits
Review and analysis of the bids by the IAS Conference Committee- July 2026
Confirmation of the successful host city for AIDS 2028 by the IAS Executive Board - Q4 of 2026
