Vira Brezhneva, a singer, actress and TV host, became the UNAIDS Regional Goodwill Ambassador for eastern Europe and central Asia in November 2014. She uses her influence to raise awareness about the HIV epidemic and promote human rights, engaging with health officials, people living with HIV and affected communities through visits, campaigns, social media initiatives and press engagements. During her Goodwill Ambassador visits to countries in the region, she meets with activists and community groups, paying special attention to women and children living with HIV, listening to their problems to advocate for solutions. On her concert tours, she proactively connects with local community organizations and people living with HIV to promote solidarity and support. As a regional Goodwill Ambassador, Vira has participated in various events organized by community organizations, UNAIDS, WHO and the IAS, and represented the region at a high-level event in New York alongside the UN Secretary-General.
