IAS 2025, the 13th IAS Conference on HIV Science

Special assistance

IAS 2025 is committed to accommodating the needs of individuals with disabilities. It provides the following services:

alternative text
  • Special assistance desk
  • Free registration for personal assistance (upon request and approval of required documentation)
  • Wheelchairs (upon request)
  • Live translation of speech into text (CART, or real-time captioning)
  • Stage ramps for speakers

If you have any accessibility-related questions, please contact accessibility@ias2025.org.

Special assistance desk

If you have a question related to assistance for people with disabilities on site, please go to the information and special assistance desk, located in the registration area, during the official registration opening hours.

Personal assistance will be provided (upon request and approval of required documentation).

If you are a delegate with specific accessibility needs and wish to bring your own assistant with you (such as a sign language interpreter or other assistant), please contact accessibility@ias2025.org.

Wheelchairs (upon request)

Delegates will be able to borrow manual wheelchairs at the information and special assistance desk. Please send requests in advance to accessibility@ias2025.org. The use of the wheelchair is free. The wheelchair can be used only inside the venue.

If you’re coming with your own wheelchair and plan to use the conference transfers, please contact accessibility@ias2025.org.

Real-time captioning (CART)

Artificial intelligence (AI) services will be utilized for English captioning throughout the conference. English captioning will be available for the opening and closing ceremonies, plenary sessions, special sessions, rapporteur sessions and symposia. Pre-conference sessions or satellite symposia may also offer interpretation and English captioning.

To access English captioning, please have your phone ready. Simply scan the QR code provided in each session room and click “join”. You will then have the option to read captions. While our AI interpretation is highly accurate, occasional captioning errors may occur.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. We provide the automated captioning services to make our content as widely accessible as possible. Although effort has been taken to train this technology, it may not always respect the people-first language of the original version.

Stage ramps

The IAS has arranged that stages have ramps to ensure accessibility for speakers with mobility needs.

Service dogs

No animals except guide dogs are permitted. Guide dogs must have approval documentation from the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and the Rwanda Agriculture and Animal Resources Development Board.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
