IAS 2025 – the 13th IAS Conference on HIV Science – in Kigali, Rwanda, on 13-17 July brought together the global HIV community at a critical juncture in the HIV response. It highlighted urgent challenges, including the severe impact of US policy shifts and cuts to foreign aid. At the same time, IAS 2025 showcased the latest developments in HIV science, including African-led innovation, promising long-acting HIV prevention tools and implementation strategies, and strides and setbacks in paediatric and adolescent care.
IAS 2025 also saw the launch of the Kigali Declaration, a global call to action to urge governments, multilateral organizations, philanthropic actors, the private sector and civil society to recommit to five core principles to revive the HIV response and restore global solidarity in the face of funding cuts.
This webinar follows the release of HIV science presented at IAS 2025 to the public. It will explore a critical challenge as the HIV response rethinks, rebuilds and rises: how to communicate scientific evidence in ways that inspire continued investment in proven HIV prevention and treatment strategies.
Speakers and panellists from across the research, implementation and advocacy spectrum will explore and share strategies, best practices and experiences in science communication and reporting. They will highlight key pitfalls and adaptive strategies to translate scientific evidence to media and policy audiences. Moderated by the Bhekisisa Centre for Health Journalism, the webinar will deliver practical insights and approaches to translate research into stories that drive change. It is open to all interested in science communication and is particularly relevant for the HIV research community.
