What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

My major driver in working in the HIV field came from my desire to help curb the impact of infectious disease using an epidemiological approach for identification, prevention and control of disease. HIV has resulted in an enormous amount of deaths, especially in Africa. I was enthused by the epidemic and key populations. This bolstered my interest in seeking out effective methods of HIV prevention, early disease identification, tracking of clients living with HIV, and retention considering their mobile nature. My inspiration is to see a society free of the stigma of HIV while people take control of health through health promotion and easy accessibility to care and prevention services.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

As an IAS change maker, I wish to drive change towards an HIV cure and prevention among key populations through collaboration, research and advocacy. My goal includes ensuring that all key populations have access to mobile health apps and creating a platform where health challenges are discussed. I will be involved with activities in the Ministry of Health to create policies that cut across Federal and state health centres. I intend to create a platform to encourage those who are keen on research for HIV to form a collaborative group.
