What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

My inspiration is scientific research based on topics that can improve the mortality and quality of life of people living with HIV. There is the possibility of estimating the immunological recovery of these people, allowing access to innovative and suppressive therapies, that may lead to a cure for HIV in the near future.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My goals are to: implement HIV resistance genotyping in the laboratory with support for treatment and prevention policies; and awaken from a critical look at the person’s response to different interventions, optimization of diagnosis/monitoring and adherence to therapy.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
