What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

I participated in mobilizing my community members for HIV outreach in my area over 10 years ago. I was amazed by the turnout of the community despite all the misconceptions and myths surrounding HIV. I decided to improve my skills and join the global change makers in the HIV field.

My inspiration grew through acquiring skills, knowledge and experience in the research and programmes employed to find lasting solutions for the prevention, treatment and cure for HIV, identifying populations driving the epidemic to attain epidemic control, the wealth of professionals ranging from medical personnel and scientists to social innovators, and the sustainable efforts put in place to end the HIV pandemic globally. I am also inspired by the number of lives that I have saved and improved through my contributions in the HIV field.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

I want to amplify my work and share my in-country experiences, strategies and achievements through the IAS platform. I want to continuously save and improve lives through collaboration and partnerships with other change makers and experts across the globe; the IAS platform will provide such an opportunity. I want to continuously learn new and innovative approaches, best practices, knowledge and skills from experts and other change makers globally so that I can apply the learnings to improve my engagements with the populations that I serve in Nigeria and Africa.
