What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

I was born with HIV and through my lived experience as a young woman living with HIV, I have faced stigma, I have stopped taking my ARVs, and I have faced life's challenges that we don't talk much about when we are diagnosed and started on treatment. As I grow up with HIV, I feel that the HIV response can do better in leveraging and addressing stigma, as well as treatment fatigue. That is why I use my own lived experience to try to encourage other people living with HIV that there is hope beyond our diagnosis.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My goals as an IAS change maker are to amplify my voice as a young person living with HIV to make the HIV response better in terms of gaining more knowledge and learning opportunities, collaborating with other young leaders, and having my capacity built in my work and content creation, which I use as an advocacy tool.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
