What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
I am inspired to work in the HIV cure field because HIV is still a major health problem affecting young people and women in Zambia. Additionally, I am inspired to work in this field because I work with people living with HIV across Zambia who are always keen to learn and know about latest developments on an HIV cure. Thus, my inspiration in the HIV cure field is to advocate for more support of HIV cure research programmes in my country. Moreover, I am inspired to work in the field of HIV because I believe it is possible to find a cure for HIV if key players are committed to the call and secure global funds towards research programmes on HIV cure, especially in countries that are hugely affected by the HIV pandemic.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
My major goal as an IAS change maker is to create change in the perception of HIV cure in my country. Many people still believe the world is far from finding a cure for HIV because success stories about an HIV cure are never documented or available. Thus, I will ensure that communities learn about success stories on HIV cure progress around the world. Additionally, my goal is to provide capacity-building trainings to health personal, media houses and community healthcare providers on latest developments on an HIV cure. I also aim to inspire more people in my network to become IAS Members and grow the network within their spaces.
