What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

I am inspired by the possibility of improving the quality of life of people living with HIV through research, teaching and medical care and ultimately the prospect of contributing to global efforts in the search for vaccine and remission strategies. As a professional, it has been inspiring to witness how the remarkable work that has been carried out since the beginning of the HIV pandemic has been translated to other biomedical disciplines for the benefit of people.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My goals are:

  1. Continuing the efforts that are needed to drive action at different levels
  2. Engaging with stakeholders for building capacity to develop and consolidate collaborative agendas for research, literacy, advocacy and community work
  3. Promoting and highlighting the importance and impact of work for people and society in the HIV field and beyond

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
