The Research-for-Cure Academy, organized in partnership with he HIV Pathogenesis Research Unit at the University of Witwatersrand and SANTHE (Sub-Saharan African Network for TB/HIV Research Excellence), will award fellowships to about 15 early- to mid-career African investigators or clinical scientists to participate in a series of interactive workshops.
The objectives are to:
- Provide training on state-of-the-art HIV cure research
- Improve and reinforce practical tools and methodologies to pursue or engage in HIV cure research, including grant writing
- Provide a unique opportunity for engagement with leaders in the HIV cure field to facilitate research collaborations in the search for an HIV cure or remission
To be eligible, applicants should:
- Be able to fully participate in English-language discussions as the academy will be held in English
- Be an early- to mid-career investigator or clinical scientist
- Be affiliated with or working in collaboration with an institution or university in an African country
- Be interested in the latest research developments towards an HIV cure
- Already be working in the field of HIV (preferred)
