What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

The thought of not having my parents around due to the limited HIV information and accessibility of treatment during their time has empowered me to help people living with HIV and AIDS understand how lucky we are to be alive and receive ART for free. The new HIV research has given me hope, and I want to share that hope with others.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

Many people living with HIV today have failed to adhere to their ARV treatment because they are unaware of how far HIV research has come. Some of the reasons could be language barriers. My goal is to equip myself with all the HIV research information to help answer questions for those who cannot access it.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
