What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

HIV acquisition and exposure in children increases the likelihood of malnutrition and impaired development. Providing adequate care for these children, especially in the first 1,000 days of life, increases the chances of HIV-free survival and reduces the risk of growth faltering and neurodevelopmental delays. It is always interesting to observe children catching up and growing to their full potential.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My goal is to impart HIV knowledge to people, especially women, living with HIV. This would include ensuring that they are up to date with new developments in HIV management. If all women of child-bearing age and women living with HIV are well informed that their offspring can be HIV free, it may lead to an HIV-free generation.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
