What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
As a person living with HIV, I can understand the importance of the existence of public policies in my life. At the same time, I can see that the absence of policies had a significant impact on the lives of people who don't even think about needing these policies one day. Thus, from my activism, I can collectively build new answers needed by other young people and significantly impact my community. Also, the response to AIDS is centred on human rights and communities, which motivates me to grow as an activist and professional working on this issue.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
It is important that global debates and local realities exchange knowledge. My goal is that my interventions have a significant impact on my community. I also want to be connected with leading researchers in global health and HIV, which motivates me to be a researcher in this area. Connecting to the experiences of other young people living with HIV motivates me to continue my work in Brazil.
