What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

In central, eastern, western and southern Africa, certain factors, including stigma, cause people to present late in health facilities when choice is no longer possible. Also, the lack of expertise in care is a hindrance on the part of care providers. This has inspired me to strengthen my capacities in the management of HIV in order to transmit my knowledge and also to participate in awakening of the consciousness of people.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My goals are: sharing my knowledge; extending my perspectives in the response to HIV beyond the therapeutic area; and participating in research programmes that can contribute to the care of people living with HIV.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
