What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

My inspiration is living with HIV and sharing with my peers the lessons that I have experienced throughout my 30 years of living with HIV. My greatest driving force is knowing that my life experience and training as a community educator has helped and helps people living and not living with HIV.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

My goals are to motivate my peers to promote self-care of their health, as well as the health, dignity and positive prevention approach. With this, we can contribute to improving people's quality of life and above all, reduce stigma and discrimination. I wish to promote adherence, undetectable = untransmittable, to prevent new acquisitions.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
