What inspires you to work in the HIV field?

Despite the tremendous success in the response to HIV over the past 40 years, psychosocial issues are still prevalent. They influence HIV outcomes, including late presentation, HIV drug resistance and premature mortality, especially in resource-limited settings. To date, these issues remain understudied and the people underserved; there is a need to design and implement cost-effective solutions to address these challenges.

What are your goals as an IAS change maker?

As a change maker, I plan to contribute to improving healthcare, making it people-centred and comprehensive for people living with HIV. I also plan to engage myself in mentoring activities to encourage other health providers and medical students in their journeys.

The IAS promotes the use of non-stigmatizing, people-first language. The translations are all automated in the interest of making our content as widely accessible as possible. Regretfully, they may not always adhere to the people-first language of the original version.
