What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
I started my journey as a student in the field of HIV prevention and my first job was working with HIV communities. I got the opportunity to closely work with people and children living with HIV during my early years. I have witnessed stigma, discrimination, poor management of treatment and all sorts difficulties that communities face. I have gained a lot of knowledge and experiences throughout this journey. This inspires me to work towards betterment. Currently, my job profile deals with HIV testing and prevention. I want to further upgrade my knowledge and develop professional skills.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
When I was introduced to this IAS programme in 2016, I wanted to understand the entire HIV spectrum. I have realized that there is a lot of potential to strengthen the HIV field, communities and facilities. As an IAS change maker, one can upgrade oneself and work to strengthen the field further. A new set of professional skills, learnings and innovation will help me fully work in this field.
