What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
In over 40 years since the outbreak of HIV and AIDS, great strides have been achieved towards attaining epidemic control. New, innovative and more effective prevention and treatment options are now available, and these can potentially save millions of lives. I am eager to contribute to expanding access and uptake of these services to vulnerable and marginalized people who are in need but do not have access. I am also passionate about spreading correct information to enable everyone, especially young people, to make informed choices to protect themselves and others. My favourite slogan is “U=U”. I strongly believe that with the available technologies, medicines and research, we can achieve global epidemic control if we keep working together.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
My goals as an IAS change maker are to: keep contributing to implementation of HIV interventions especially for key populations; continue adding to scientific knowledge and sharing valuable lessons by contributing to abstracts, manuscripts and other knowledge management products for publication; be an advocate of high-quality, stigma-free services for people living with HIV; and help increase awareness of HIV prevention, care and treatment for all populations.
