What inspires you to work in the HIV field?
I am inspired to work in the HIV field by the resilience and strength of people living with HIV and by the global commitment to ending the HIV epidemic. There is something deeply fulfilling about being able to contribute, even in small ways, to restoring hope, putting a smile on someone’s face and reminding them that living a full, meaningful life with HIV is possible. I derive joy from supporting people to regain their confidence and take control of their health and well-being. The HIV field goes beyond medicine to advance human connection, dignity and empowerment. Seeing individuals move from fear or despair to strength and advocacy is incredibly motivating. It reminds me why this work matters. I am also inspired by the progress we are making as a global community and the shared vision of a world where HIV no longer defines or limits anyone’s potential.
What are your goals as an IAS change maker?
As an IAS change maker, one of my key goals is to ensure that the voices of people living with HIV are an integral part of their care, treatment and overall health journey. This includes meaningful involvement in service redesign, shaping peer support initiatives and influencing how services are delivered to truly reflect their needs and experiences. I aim to promote equity in access to care, particularly for marginalized groups, by advocating for inclusive, person-centred and community-led approaches. I am passionate about reducing stigma and supporting the emotional and social well-being of people living with HIV, alongside good clinical outcomes. Through this platform, I hope to share quality improvement practices that can be adapted globally, build collaborations and help drive sustainable improvement in HIV care. I want to contribute to a world where people living with HIV are empowered and supported to lead meaningful and productive lives.
