Maputo, Mozambique

IAS – the International AIDS Society – invites you to a milestone IAS Educational Fund symposium, titled “A new landscape for the HIV response in Mozambique”, in Maputo, Mozambique, on 19 June.

Organized in partnership with the Comité para Saúde de Moçambique (CSM), this symposium was postponed from its original date in February due to the impact of the US funding cuts on key stakeholders in the HIV response.

This symposium – the 50th IAS Educational Fund meeting – is the first Educational Fund gathering since the recent shifts in the global HIV landscape. It will convene key stakeholders to address the sustainability of Mozambique’s HIV response beyond the current funding crisis and share and discuss the latest scientific evidence relevant to the local context.

The symposium will be held in Portuguese and English.

Speakers and participants will discuss:

  • Key messages from recent international conferences
  • The HIV response in Mozambique in a new funding landscape
  • Ensuring a sustainable HIV response in Mozambique
  • Reaching adolescent girls and young women
  • Integrating HIV and non-communicable disease services for improved health outcomes

This 50th meeting is a celebration of our work to connect science, policy and action. Since 2016, the Educational Fund has reached over 32,000 people through inclusive, evidence-based learning opportunities that strengthen HIV networks and drive the translation of science into practice.

The symposium is open to clinicians, health and social service providers, researchers, policy makers, activists, members of key and vulnerable populations, and people living with HIV.
