Title: Director, Communications and Public Affairs


Bijan is a communications and public affairs professional with over 15 years of experience in fast-paced non-profit organizations with a global remit. 

He has managed five communications departments on three continents and joined the IAS in February 2020. Before that, Bijan worked as Kofi Annan’s spokesperson and headed up communications for the Kofi Annan Foundation at large. 

Bijan spent many years in conflict zones in Kashmir, South Sudan, Nepal and Afghanistan, where he headed up communications departments for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and led on government relations promoting respect for International Humanitarian Law. 

Bijan has received several awards in the field of communications and digital communications. 

He holds an MSc in International Politics from the University of London (SOAS) where he graduated with merit.
