What is your motivation for becoming an HIV cure advocate?

I have taken medications since childhood and live in a country of 1.3million people on daily HIV ART which is hard to take with side effects and toxicity. Therefore we all want an HIV Cure.

Am participating in the HIV cure research to make sure safety of HIV Cure participants is not compromised. I want to know how best you can prove that am Cured of HIV without telling me not to stop my ART medications and when you tell me to stop my medications how are you going to prevent me from getting HIV drug resistance

What advocacy work are you currently engaged in?

I am an advocate of pre exposure prophylaxis and I have worked with organizations like Uganda network of AIDS services organization UNASO and the UG HIV prevention Coalitions network to pressure the ministry of health roll out pre exposure prophylaxis to all the people who need it. And as I speak now Uganda began rolling out pre exposure prophylaxis to selected sites across the Country for folks most especially key population groups like MSM and SEX WORKERS.

How do you think knowledge learned from the Advocacy-for-Cure Academy will influence your current work?

I will use all my networks of civil society organizations, young people living with HIV and all the meetings I will attend to share the important knowledge I will learn from the this HIV Cure Academy. I will use my radio program to share the information about the ongoing HIV Cure and will request listeners to pass the right information without any distortion. Uganda has a problem of which witchcrafts and false prophets who claim to Cure HIV but after this Advocacy-for -Cure Academy, I hope to have acquired enough knowledge and tools to challenge these culprits.
