22 July 2018 | Room E105-108, RAI Amsterdam Convention Centre, Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Generation Now: Our Health, Our Rights is a bold new partnership between the International AIDS Society (IAS) and Women Deliver that aims to contribute to achieving health and rights, particularly for young women and girls, by increasing political and financial investment across sectors in support of integrated HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) responses.
Generation Now will organize a series of pre-conference meetings to unite advocates, young leaders, academics, funders, policy makers, front-line healthcare workers and more to increase understanding of and advocate for integrated HIV and SRHR policies to shape systems and services that meet those in need, including adolescents and young women.
The two-part Generation Now pre-conference series will take place on:
The meeting co-chairs represent a global cohort of advocates for women and adolescents:
- Daphine Abaho, Mildmay, Uganda
- Femi Oke, Al Jazeera English, United States
- HRH Mabel van Oranje-Nassau, Girls Not Brides, the Netherlands
- Dakshitha Wickremarathne, Youth Advocacy Network, Sri Lanka
The pre-conference meetings at AIDS 2018 and Women Deliver 2019 will raise awareness among the different conference audiences on how the SRHR and HIV movements, together, can move the dial for young women and girls by ensuring that integrated and comprehensive SRHR and HIV policies, services and systems are the norm and not the exception.
To highlight the latest implementation research, the 2018 Generation Now pre-conference will consider abstracts related to HIV and SRHR integration that are submitted to AIDS 2018 for presentation at the meeting.
The Generation Now: Our Health, Our Rights pre-conference meeting at AIDS 2018 welcomes delegates interested in the integration of HIV and SRHR and young people’s role in influencing policies, systems and services.
