AIDS 2008 AIDS 2008

The XVII International AIDS Conference (AIDS 2008) was held in Mexico City from 3 to 8 August 2008. The conference attracted over 24,000 participants from around the world, including leading scientists, policy-makers, people living with HIV and members of the media. AIDS 2008 was convened by the International AIDS Society, the world’s leading independent association of HIV professionals. Local partners included the federal government of Mexico, the Government of Mexico City and local scientific and community leadership. International institutional partners were: The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), the International Council of AIDS Service Organizations (ICASO), The Global Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS (GNP+) and International Community of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (ICW), the World YWCA, and the Asian Harm Reduction Network (AHRN).

    The 4th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention was organized by the International AIDS Society in association with the Australasian Society for HIV Medicine.

    AIDS 2006

    AIDS 2006The world’s largest HIV/AIDS conference provides an international, open and independent forum for the exchange of ideas, knowledge and research which will inform HIV/AIDS programmes and strengthen prevention, treatment and care efforts worldwide.

    Over 26,000 participants, including scientists, health care providers, political, community and business leaders, journalists, government, non-governmental and intergovernmental representatives, and people living with HIV/AIDS, visited AIDS 2006.

    The XV International AIDS Conference was organised by the International AIDS Society (IAS) and the Thai Ministry of Public Health as the local Host. The co-organisers of the conference were UNAIDS, three international community networks: ICW, ICASO, GNP+ and TNCA, a conglomerate of Thai AIDS NGOs.
