Basic Science

Researchers are continually studying the basic science of HIV/AIDS and the immune system’s response to HIV infection. While much has been learned since the first known HIV infection, many questions continue to go unanswered about its pathogenesis as well as the human body’s immune response to the virus. Basic scientific research on these topics is necessary to further generate preventative and therapeutic measures and to stop the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
