More frequent Infections of sexual transmission in men than have sex with men (MSM) in the Mexico city: Prevalence of 2000-2004

Background: To Determine the prevalence of ITS/VIH, 2) to determine the characteristic epidemiologists in the acquisition of the ITS and to 3) To Determine the associations of ITS/VIH in the MSM.

Methods: The study took I finish in the Centers of ITS/VIH of the CENSIDA in the city of Mexico,between the 2000 and the 2004 and where by means of a sero-epidemiologic questionnaire that contemplates socio-demographics, taking of blood samples and secretion of the sexual organs. Between the 2000-2004, they included 8.546 Men who have sex with Men, with average of age 25 years, schooling, superior (degree); it was investigated in blood:VIH; Syphilis (s) and Hepatitis B (HB), in uretral/ulcer secretion: gonorrhea (g); C. trachomatis (CT); Genital Herpes II type (HG) (IFD); Mycoplasma hominis (MH) (culture); Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) (culture) and by clinical revision the Condilomatosis in the sexual organs.
Results: Of the 8.546 HSH (homosexual 68% and bisexuals 32%), the prevalence of ITS/VIH through the 5 years were: HIV 27%; Syphilis, 24%; and hepatitis B 2, 5%. In secretion and/or ulcer: G 0, 52%; CT 0, 43%; HG 0,3%, MH 0,17%; Acuminates UU 0,5% and Condilomas 11,3% (965/8546). Conclusions.The study once again shows that the ITS continue being a problem of public health in the country, in special in the MSM population, demonstrating with it that there are many problems related in the political decision making for the fight against the ITS, as demonstrates the study to it, where we observed an increase of them, in special l VIH, Condilomata acuminates, as the some classic and little use of condom, not concerning the superior schooling; reason why it is to prioritize measures directed to the reinforcing of our programs in strategies of intervention for the opportune detection.
