Issues: The geometrical increases of HIV/AIDS among the youth should be a great concern for evryone since the youths of today are the leaders of tommorow. The youth response to different crusade and awareness on HIV/AIDS is not very encouraging especially in the developing countries and this may be attributed to the absence of effective approach and poverty.
Description: The GLOBAL AIDS AWARENESS FORUM is mostly a youth forum so we are raising the HIV/AIDS awareness and taking it to the youths in our community and most tertiary institution through one to one approach and group approach . We liase with most of the tertiary institution Student Union Leaders to be able to have direct access to the student . This action work to our advantage because it helps in increasing the awareness and teach them the importance of safe sex . Some student volunteer to be raising the awareness in their school at least once in a month and we succeded in pioneering the Collegiate Awareness Forum the student chapter of this organisation in 10 different tertiary institutions.
Lessons learned: We get to understand that for a succesful campaign against HIV/AIDS especially among the youth they must be actively involved, because they know each other very well and the know the right approach to use to get the attention of their colleagues.the one to one approach as been an outstanding success because many of those that were apporoach through this means open up to us and ask questions they would not have been able to ask in a general session.
Recommendations: If our future must be safeguard and we want the HIV/AIDS menace eradicated the youth must be taking care of by giving them the responsibility of taking the forefront in the war against HIV/AIDS and empowering them to do so through proper training.
