Background: During the last six years, the Municipal Programma for the Prevention of Aids has developed activities in all public secondary schools from Venado Tuerto. In this specific area the "Training of Juvenile Leaders" project was developed.

Objectives: To evaluate the changes of attitudes of secondary school students from a public school in which the " Training of Juvenile Leaders" project was carried out during the last two years.

Material and Method: A multiple-choice, auto-administered, voluntary and anonymous survey was done to all the students from the three highest classes in the E.E.M. N° 447. These surveys were then compared to the ones done in a similar population from the same institution at the beginning of 1997 and previous to the work in that school. The statistical method used was T of student.

Results: We will call the population surveyed two years ago Group A and the actual population Group B (n=88). The distribution by sex (Fem.A=63,8%; Fem.B=63,7) and the average age (A=17,01y. DS 1,52; B= 16,20y DS 1,02). There were not significant differences in reference to information but we do have to underline the increase in the use of condom shown by the adolescents (Group A= 27,30%; Group B= 37,50% p=0.001).

Conclusions: We see that the work done by these young people produced a positive change upon their peers. Keeping in mind the short time that has passed, we believe we should go on insisting in this kind of actions and monitor them to determine bigger changes.
